For those who don’t remember and for those too young to ever have known, the “Extra” in times gone by was a special edition published by local newspapers when after publication of the morning’s edition and before publication of the evening edition there occurred a news event of such significance that it required immediate dissemination. For example, local newspapers put out an “Extra” when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. I believe the last Extra was put out by local newspapers during my lifetime on Nov 22, 1963 when President Kennedy was shot in Dallas.
In a similar vein, we are publishing this Blog Post Extra 4.5 because an event of such significance whose dissemination cannot be held until publication of Blog Post 5 occurred earlier today on the Camino as follows:

Hannah Kavy Establishes New Personal Single Day Walking Record of 21.06 Miles
On the Camino Frances from Ocebreiro to Sarria earlier today, Hannah Irene Kavy established a new personal single day walking record of 21.06 miles. The significance of this event cannot be overstated having been accomplished just 2 days after having broken her previous record of 14 miles with a total of 17 plus miles on the Camino from Ponferrada to Villafranca de Bierzo. Further and additional details to be included in Blog Post 5.
Editors notes: While recognition of such an accomplishment is appropriate, your editors feel that an admonition concerning the nature of the Camino de Santiago is also required. The Camino de Santiago is a true pilgrimage, that is a journey to a place of religious significance conducted for religious or spiritual purposes or at a minimum with an attitude of introspection or search for the meaning of life or the divine within ourselves. It is not a competition to see who can walk the longest distance in a single day. Such records are not kept or maintained and are of no importance.
That being said, notice should be taken that the Kavy Family record for most miles walked on the Camino in a single day, 26.6 miles from Arzua to Santiago established by Jeff Kavy on Oct 15, 2017 (see Episode 17 jeffonthecaminofrances2017.com) stands unbroken.
