Episode 4 – A day in Cusco

Turns out it’s the end of carnival in Peru so after Sunday brunch, Will and I went down to the Plaza de Armas to enjoy the city wide celebration.

Then we had a group tour of the Basilica Catedral and Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun), the Inkan ruins of Sacsayhuaman (often mispronounced as Sexy Woman) and Q’enko where the Inkan rulers were mummified.

Then after some Coco tea and my complimentary Pisco Sour at the hotel, we continued our journey of discovery of Cusco gastronomy with an outstanding Chinese Peruvian Fusion (Chifa) dinner at Kion and in the ‘it’s a small world’ department made friends with our Limeño waiter, Fernando, who is moving to Vermont to join his sister in Thetford.

So stick a fork in me, I’m done. That’s it for Blog Post 3. Tomorrow it’s Pisac and the best empanadas to be had anywhere.

Hasta mañana mis amigos!
