Episode 4 – Villafranca de Bierzo to Ocebreiro

The hike up to Ocebreiro is challenging. You ascend more than 700 meters over a distance of less than 5 kilometers. It requires stamina, perseverance and determination. I’m proud to report that, for a young person, Hannah has a good amount of all 3.

They say “pictures speak louder than words” but I think that expression is most often used by people who are inarticulate which I am not. But I was too tired last night to write anything and fortunately I didn’t wake up at 4:00 AM unable to get back to sleep so I’m just going to post some pics and let them speak for themselves. It was a marvelous day.

Last year I left Ocebreiro on horseback with my international riding buddies, Ricardo, Heather, Marcelino and Rafa. This morning Hannah and I head out on foot. Destination Sarria but it’s more than 40 kms so we are not going to walk the whole thing.
