Episode 2 – Palacio del Inka Hotel Cusco

So we checked into the Palacio Inka Hotel in Cusco and got a nice room.

This place is seriously sick. It’s built over what were the Inkan ritual baths prior to the Spanish conquest in the early 16th Century. It reminds me of the Hotel de Los Reyes Católicos in Santiago because like the Reyes Católicos it’s as much a museum as a hotel. There are 16th and 17th Century religious paintings, sculptures and artifacts everywhere and the concierge gives a guided tour at 5:00 which I’m not going to miss.

And of course the hotel has a competent wine cellar but even cooler it has something I haven’t seen before.

A cellar to age cheese and cold cuts and I want one!

Cusco is just delightful!

Gorgeous really, Cusco Blog Post 2.0 with more complete deets of the day later this evening but in the meantime ‘un breve descanso’ appears to be in order.
