Episode 1 – Uber to the Alamo 5:45 am

Today being my birthday and all and with not much else on the agenda, I decided it was the perfect day for my “Walk Home from the Alamo.”
was in the Uber at 5:30, it’s now daybreak and I’m ready to set off from the Alamo, cradle of Texas liberty.
My destination is my home in Shavano from where I left this morning. I’m not really sure how far it is, over 20 miles for sure, and I’m not really sure how far I’ll walk, at least 10 maybe 15 miles, I think, but it’s already over 70 degrees and it’ll be in the mid 90’s this afternoon so I’m not gonna be a hero.
When I’ve had enough I’m calling my personal chauffeur driver, Joven Guillermo.
He’s a sweet boy, reliable and kind and will arrive with cold water bottles in hand. He’s smart too, in fact he’s so bright I call him “sun”!
In honor of the 66th anniversary of the day my dear sweet Mom brought me into this world, I’m donating $66.00 for each mile I walk to Water to Thrive a wonderful organization drilling water wells in African villages.
Please consider making a donation of any amount.
I’ll post updates of my progress during the day, wish me luck, it’s gonna be hot but it’s gonna be fun!
I love an adventure!
